Number 35 is a late Victorian detached house in the busy market town of Chippenham situated 3 miles south of junction 17 of the M4. We try to accommodate the needs of all of our guests but we do have some features which might make access difficult for some. Access from the pavement is up 5 stone steps and we have an external porch with a right angled turn into the main hall. Once inside, the house is built on generous proportions with plenty of room to move around. Both guest bedrooms are on the first floor. We are happy to help with luggage or to give a hand on the stairs if required.
We have a cat and chickens and regret that we are therefore unable to accommodate pets.
Arrival and Car Parking
We are on the main Bristol Road out of Chippenham. There is no on street parking in this area, but there are two car parks where cars can be left at the owners risk. On the corner of Marshfield Road and Park Lane is an office car park. We have an agreement to use this car park between 5pm and 8am Monday to Friday and at all times on Saturday and Sunday. It is a short 50 yard walk to our house. We have also made arrangements for parking with the West End Working Men’s club which is on the opposite side of the road. You can park here at any time and we have permits to put in your car. There is a traffic island in the middle of the road to help you cross.
The nearest bus stops are 100 yards along the road, where there is a regular service to Bath and through Chippenham to Swindon
The railway station is an easy 10 minute walk away with a regular service to Swindon and London one way and Bath, Bristol and the West Country in the opposite direction.
There are many very helpful local taxi companies; we can make bookings in advance for you.
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
To ensure that your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 5.15 on weekdays and 4pm at the weekend.
There are 5 stone steps from the pavement to the front garden.
Please ring the bell when you arrive
The outside porch is level with the path but has a right angled turn to the front door which has a small step up into the main hall.
The hall is large with a level wooden floor into the breakfast room. There is a table with visitor registration forms and a visitor’s book on it. On the window sill is a fixed telephone with extra large numbers. This is for emergency use only.
The stairs to the first floor are wide and shallow. They are carpeted in a light colour. There are two half landings and a hand rail to one side. The main landing is also carpeted and has emergency lighting.
